Title: A Nutrigenomics Perspective on the Perception and Signaling of Nutrients in Human Metabolism
Abstract: The genetic make-up of an individual in response to a specific nutrient is revealed by the interaction of specific nutrients and linked genes involving a particular organ. For particular populations with identical genotypes, the interaction of genes with food creates opportunities for the addition of bioactive compounds. It is advantageous to know how nutrients affect the body’s metabolism because of the slight variations in human genetic make-up. To improve health, disease prevention, and treatment, basic understanding of emerging nutrigenomics and nutrigenetics can be used. Additionally, hormone signals are used to integrate and coordinate nutrient-mediated pathways that detect the cellular concentration of nutrients like sugars, amino acids, lipids, and metabolites. This review examines how different facets of nutrigenetics and nutrigenomics interact with nutrients, as well as pathways involved in nutrient sensing and regulation, in order to give readers a thorough understanding of this cutting-edge area of nutrition research and its potential applications to dietetic practice.
