Title: Making decisions in digital writing: A practical view of academic revisions’ language

Abstract: Up until this point, virtually all of the focus that has been placed on the investigation of functional descriptions of developing language has been directed at speech as the primary object of research. The central focus of research on writing has been chiefly on the modification of language units themselves as the core topic of examination. However, research on writing has also investigated how the development of a text’s meanings is impacted by how language units are modified. “As a direct result of this, the purpose of this paper is to take the first step toward a dynamic description of the written text in terms of the language structures, functions, and systemic choices found in the written revisions of two second-year undergraduates in the United Kingdom. This will be done by analyzing the written revisions of two United Kingdom students majoring in English. In order to accomplish this goal, the study uses Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) as an underlying framework and keystroke logging software (Inputlog) as a data collecting tool. Both of these were utilized in order to accomplish the goal mentioned above.”This paper focuses on “the revisions made during consecutive writing sessions that ranged in length from 8 minutes to 8 hours 37 minutes and a total of 56 hours 18 minutes of recordings, as well as a detailed textual analysis of four unfolding, digitally composed texts whose final products totaled approximately 1700 words.” The writing sessions ranged from 8 minutes to 8 hours 37 minutes. Each time I sat down to write, it might last anywhere from eight to eight hours and 37 minutes. The total number of new words contributed to the corpus as a consequence of these writing sessions came to about 1700. It has been postulated that the recently created analytic model may be capable of providing a novel viewpoint on writing behavior with the way meaning-making processes develop throughout actual time. The findings imply that confident linguistic choices could be crucial in determining the shape of academic writings. It is also suggested that this new analysis model might offer this viewpoint. The findings also imply that confident linguistic choices could be crucial in determining the shape of academic writings. “The findings also suggest that confident language choices may play an essential role in establishing the structure of academic papers.”
