Description

Title: The Indian Village Ethos as Illustrated in a Selection of R.K. Narayana’s Short Stories

Abstract: A well-known author of Indian English literature is R.K. Narayana. In practically all of his paintings, he has an Indian sensibility. He invented the imaginary town of Malgudi, which he uses to illustrate to readers the culture of Indian villages. This essay examines how R.K. Narayana’s chosen short stories portray the Indian ethos. In this essay, four of his short stories are examined. “An Astrologer’s Day”, “A Snake in the Grass”, “The Axe”, and “A Horse and Two Goats”. The researcher primarily focuses on village culture, village life, and villagers’ social, personal, and familial values. The researcher has concentrated on the stories’ syntactic and thematic elements to achieve the study’s goals. His stories exhibit a combination of sarcasm and humour, as may be seen.
