Abstract: As writing research has advanced over the years, the requirement of adopting a social perspective on research writing to comprehend how the social environment and social interaction are linked to writing regulation has increased numerous times. This is because adopting a social perspective on research writing allows one to comprehend how the social environment and social interaction are linked to writing regulation. This requirement has been brought up so one may understand how the social environment and social interaction are connected to writing regulations. This is done so that awareness of the various ways the social environment governs the act of writing may be gained. Students were able to obtain writing control in ways relevant to the discipline when they engaged with their supervisors, as stated by this study, which investigates the self-regulatory behaviours of three successful writers who completed their Bachelor’s degrees in literature in essay form. These writers all completed their degrees in literature through the essay format. In order to maintain track of the participants’ self-regulation behaviour and monitor it during the study, a coding heuristic derived from Pintrich’s self-regulation framework was utilized throughout the term. This was done in order to keep the study on track. Because of this, it was feasible to arrive at an accurate assessment of the various people’s levels of self-control. In order to gather the information that was required, three separate interviews of a qualitative and in-depth character were carried out at strategic points over the semester. These interviews took place at important junctures. In order to determine whether or not there is a connection between the students’ capacity to self-regulate their writing and the social experiences they have had, the data on self-regulation were cross-analyzed with the data categorized as participatory appropriation, specifically the conversation that the students have had with their instructors. According to our research findings, supervisors play a role as socialization agents by providing contexts for the socialization of students. When viewed on its whole within the context of the social environment in which it is placed, this inquiry answers concerns that have been addressed about inquiries into self-regulation.
