Title: Promising Nanocarriers to Increase Cannabidiol’s Solubility and Bioavailability for a Wide Range of Therapeutic Possibilities
Abstract: Because it has no psychoactive effects, cannabidiol (CBD) has become more popular in recent years. However, CBD has poor stability, variable pharmacokinetics profiles, low solubility, low bioavailability, and a strong presystemic etabolism. Nanosuspensions, polymeric micelles and nanoparticles, hybrid nanoparticles gelled in cross-linked chitosan, and numerous nanosized lipid formulations, such as SNEEDS, nanoemulsions, and microemulsions, are all examples of CBD nanoformulations. High CBD solubility, encapsulation effectiveness, stability, and sustained CBD release have all been made possible by nanoformulations. Some studies evaluated the elevated Cmax, AUC, and lowered Tmax. When the studies reported in this review are rationally evaluated, it becomes clear that some of them are still in the very early stages and need to be finished before conducting clinical trials. Nearly every developed nanoparticle has a straightforward architecture, uses a recognized and secure nanocarrier, or is even a straightforward nanosuspension. In general, the traditional routes of administration are also looked into. Numerous of these studies are therefore almost ready for upcoming clinical translations. Due to their versatility in terms of release, ability to cross physiological barriers, and variety of administration options, some of the developed nanosystems hold great promise for a wide range of therapeutic opportunities.
