Description
Title: Endolysins Encoded by Phages
Abstract: Research on endolysins as a substitute therapy has increased as a result of the global emergence of antibiotic resistance. Enzymes that are encoded by phages called endolysins are used by mature phage virions to hydrolyze cell walls from within. The ability of endolysins to externally degrade the peptidoglycan without the aid of a phage is strongly supported by evidence. As a result, their inclusion in therapeutic strategies has created new opportunities for the treatment of bacterial infections in the human, veterinary, agricultural, and biotechnology sectors. Although endolysins exhibit promising results in the lab, it is crucial to record their resistance, safety, and immunogenicity before applying them in vivo. This review aims to offer fresh perspectives on the interaction between endolysins and antibiotics as well as endolysin formulation. As a result, it offers critical knowledge for endolysin-related clinical trials.
