Title: Techniques for imaging pulmonary sarcoidosis
Abstract: Chronic systemic granulomatous disease sarcoidosis has no known cause. Mediastinal and hilar lymph nodes in more than 90% of sarcoidosis patients are affected. This essay aims to discuss the most significant chest imaging techniques in pulmonary sarcoidosis. The preferred method for diagnosing and monitoring the progression of the disease is still a chest X-ray. High-resolution computed tomography makes it possible to describe lesions’ locations in greater detail. Research shows that FDG PET is superior to the two methods mentioned above for evaluating active inflammatory lesions. The diagnosis of cardiac sarcoidosis is currently made using magnetic resonance imaging. Although EBUS is a fundamental diagnostic tool, it is not used to track the progression of a disease because of how invasive the procedure is.
