Title: Polysomnography versus polygraphy: The role of screening questionnaires in determining the risk and severity of obstructive sleep apnea
Abstract: Since the first SARS-CoV-2-related pneumonia cases were reported in December 2019, COVID-19 has spread globally and is straining healthcare systems. Asymptomatic infection to severe complicated pneumonia with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and multiple organ failure resulting in death are all possible COVID-19 symptoms. In Wuhan, the city where the first case was reported, the estimated case-fatality rate among infected patients was 1.4%, with those over 59 years old dying at a rate that was 5.1 times higher than that of those between 30 and 59 years old. Many medications that demonstrated activity against earlier coronavirus outbreaks like SARS and MERS have been used to treat SARS-CoV-2 infection in the absence of a proven effective and licensed treatment. According to reports, the SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV share 80% of their amino acid sequences and 90% of their enzymes. Antiviral medications are urgently needed to lower hospitalization rates and case fatality rates and lessen the strain on the world’s healthcare systems. A number of treatment egimens are currently undergoing randomised controlled trials to evaluate their efficacy and safety.
