Description
Title: Institutional Support’s Effect on Export Performance
Abstract: The performance of export-oriented firms, or so-called born globals, is examined in this paper in relation to institutional support (financial and marketing support). We create a model to explain how financial and marketing support can assist young entrepreneurial firms in overcoming the risk of being new and small in acquiring competitive capabilities. Data were gathered from 217 manufacturers and service sectors in Malaysia, a developing Southeast Asian market, using a quantitative approach. The findings imply that government marketing assistance increases competitive capabilities and export performance, but that financial support has no bearing on either of these outcomes. We discovered that competitive capabilities play a significant role as a mediator in enhancing the connection between marketing support and export performance. From this finding, policymakers can derive useful recommendations for assisting young entrepreneurs who exhibit superior performance and competitive abilities.
