Abstract: The municipality typically uses its property for public, commercial, and self-government purposes. In accordance with Slovak Republic law, the municipality either conducts business independently as a legal entity or with the assistance of a contributory and budgetary organization or business firm that the municipality has established. Businesses generate significant amounts of revenue for local self-government budgets. This paper’s objective was to conduct an economic evaluation of municipal firm management at the level of rural local self-governments in the Slovak Republic on the basis of chosen economic indicators. At the same time, we looked at how certain economic indicators related to the size, longevity, and employee count of the firm. An analysis of a sample of municipal businesses at the level of rural local self-governments was carried out between 2015 and 2019 during that time frame. We used the Shapiro-Wilk test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and regression analysis as some of the mathematical-statistical techniques for the analysis. According to the analysis, there are no statistically significant differences between municipal firms’ profitability depending on the region in which they operate and the number of employees. From the perspective of the region in which the municipal firm operates, statistical significance was not even shown within the volume of revenue of municipal firms. Municipal enterprises’ revenues are increasing as the population of the municipality and their period of operation on the market do, but these are not the only variables on which these results depend.
