Title: A Different Take on ASEAN’s Integration of the Capital Market
Abstract: Integration of the capital markets has recently gained interest as a research topic. Numerous studies have used a variety of approaches to try to explain this phenomenon. Here, we explained capital market integration using sophisticated techniques. Examining the Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ (ASEAN) capital market integration is the goal of this study. This study aims to close the gap left by earlier research and add to the various perspectives on capital market integration. The information used came from Bloomberg and the Indonesia Stock Exchange and represented the stock price index of the monthly closing data of the capital markets in ASEAN nations from January 1999 to December 2020. The wavelet method was used to analyze the data in this study. The findings show that there is long-term integration in the capital markets of ASEAN nations, with the peak of integration occurring during and shortly after the global financial crisis. The results of the spectrum analysis demonstrate that the level of integration reached its maximum level between 2008 and 2010.
