Title: Development and Growth of Ecuadorian Economic Groups
Abstract: A group of parent and subsidiary corporations that function as a single economic organism under the same legislative control is known as an economic group. The choices made by economic groups in any nation rank among the most significant influences on its market and its economic and political environment. This research examines the effects of the 300 economic groups that reached a historical high in Ecuador between 2015 and 2019 Nevertheless, throughout the same period of analysis, the tax representativeness of the Ecuadorian economic groups remained constant. We identified the following economic groups by analyzing the financial and fiscal variables of the ranking of firms in Ecuador: They compete in oligopolistic markets because their economic and financial decisions are connected to their family businesses or consortium groups, I they are still concentrating wealth, (ii) they tend to compete in oligopolistic markets, and (iii) they operate in a behavioral nature that follows a linear association between the total income, total assets, total equity, and total tax collection. We hope that this work will one day be used as a resource by researchers interested in Ecuador’s and other Latin American nations’ economic sectors.
