Title: New Perspectives on Business and Economic Leadership: A Post-Coronavirus Update
Abstract: The rate of change in our world is so rapid that things that were unthinkable three years ago are now a reality. Deep changes have also been made to the idea of leadership and leaders. Additionally, the recent COVID-19 pandemic has changed how people think about, conduct, and perceive economic life, business, and education. The pandemic demonstrated how abrupt technological changes can completely upend small and large businesses, industries, and entire economies. Consequently, there is a need for theoretical research in leadership in business and economics that would provide fresh perspectives on the subject and clarify where it fits in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, our paper offers new insights for leaders and the leadership concept in business and economics from a variety of perspectives, with a focus on sustainable leadership and organizational resilience. It aims to dispel the theoretical underpinnings of leadership in business and economics following the pandemic and to present engaging and recent case studies of leadership from all over the world. In addition, this essay seeks to impart insightful knowledge on what it means to be a sustainable leader in business and economics, why leaders are necessary, and how to become one. The theoretical discussion based on the literature review and analysis as well as the empirical analysis that supports these theoretical provisions comprise the main criteria of this study’s instrumentation. Using data from 400 respondents gathered in the Czech Republic and Russia, the paper presents an empirical model that analyzes how business and economic leaders are looking for new opportunities for work and personal growth both during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. We discovered that the pandemic increased the emotional creativity of business and economic leaders, encouraged them to invest more in new digital technologies, and encouraged them to fundamentally alter the traditional methods of managing and governing their respective organizations. Our findings might be helpful food for thought for academics researching different facets of leadership as well as for business owners and entrepreneurs who want the most recent information on leadership to use in their daily work.
