Title: If you aim higher than you anticipate, you might succeed beyond your wildest dreams. Managing People and Performance
Abstract: Leadership is about expanding one’s vision, increasing one’s output, and developing a personality beyond one’s normal capabilities. The Pygmalion effect and leader-member exchange (LMX) on worker task performance via organizational commitment are examined in our study. The information was gathered from 280 middle-level managers at Pakistan’s top ten banks. Three major contributions to the literature are made by this study. First, our findings show that organizational commitment serves as a powerful mediator between the Pygmalion effect, LMX, and employees’ task performance. Second, our research suggests that leaders should set higher standards for task performance and their interactions with staff. Last but not least, the majority of earlier studies either concentrated on leadership strategies or were carried out in western developed nations. To our knowledge, this study adds nothing new to the body of knowledge on the expectations of leaders in dynamic environments, such as those found in developing nations like Pakistan.
