Description
Title: Inflammation-Related Transcription Factors
Abstract: By attaching to and activating the insulin receptor, a receptor tyrosine kinase that is primarily expressed in skeletal muscle, adipocytes, liver, pancreatic beta-cells, and in some regions of the central nervous system, the hormone insulin performs its function. The extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase1/2 (ERK1/2), phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase, protein kinase B/Akt, and phospholipase C act as signal transducers in intracellular signaling cascades that are triggered by the stimulation of the insulin receptor. Numerous physiological and biochemical processes, including glucose transport, glucose homeostasis, food intake, proliferation, glycolysis, and lipogenesis, are correlated with insulin receptor stimulation. The activation of gene transcription as a result of insulin receptor stimulation is the main topic of this review article. Transducers that transmit signals, like protein kinases or the glucose influx brought on by GLUT4, link insulin receptor stimulation to transcription. We discuss insulin-responsive transcription factors that produce a transcriptional network that carries out the metabolic functions of insulin in response to insulin receptor activation. The transcription of genes encoding crucial enzymes for glycolysis and lipogenesis is induced by insulin receptor stimulation, while the transcription of genes encoding crucial enzymes for gluconeogenesis is inhibited. Overall, a variety of insulin-induced changes in the biochemistry and physiology of insulin-responsive tissues are orchestrated by activating or inhibiting insulin responsive transcription factors.
