Title: Proteasome Enhancement by Small Molecules Advances
Abstract: The breakdown of misfolded, harmed, and redundant cellular proteins is carried out by the proteasome system, a substantial and intricate molecular apparatus. Unwanted proteins build up when proteasome function is compromised, which can cause a number of illnesses, including age-related and neurodegenerative conditions. Therefore, using small molecules to increase proteasome-mediated substrate degradation may be a useful tactic for treating a variety of neurodegenerative illnesses like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and Huntington’s diseases. In this review, we go over the proteasome’s structure and how its proteolytic activity relates to aging and different neurodegenerative disorders. We also list different chemical groups that can either directly or indirectly improve proteasome-mediated protein degradation.
