Description
Title: Regulation of Pancreatic -Cell Mass and Insulin Secretion by mTOR
Abstract: Only pancreatic beta-cells are able to regulate blood sugar levels by secreting insulin. As a result, numerous reports have clarified the functions of significant molecules, such as the mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR), a key regulator of metabolic and nutrient cues, in order to explore the mechanisms underlying pancreatic -cell failure. Studies have revealed the roles of mTOR in the operation of -cells and the development of diabetes, and they imply that mTOR has both favorable and unfavorable effects on pancreatic -cells.
Keywords: mTOR; pancreatic β-cell; autophagy; ER stress; insulin secretion
